They are gorgeous! Please see my TikTok channel for a video of them. Kickstarter isn’t letting me post it from my phone on here. I’ve attached a few images instead though!
I can’t wait for you to get your hands on this pretty book and meet Dex & Lia.

I’ll be wrapping these pretties and shipping your book next week after the Easter bank hols. I’ll post an update as soon as they’re on their way. 👏

If you want a heads up on the second book campaign, and get the early bird perks, then make sure you follow Angel Of Aether and hit the heart icon!

The stamped edges with a bit of extra sparkle!
about 2 years ago – Mon, Feb 26, 2024 at 01:02:34 PM

So I decided to offer a hand stamped edge on VOS after the Kickstarter campaign had finished. A few people took me up on this. I haven’t done it before so the proof books I ordered which are still lovely, but not quite up to scratch, became my test subjects.

I researched all kinds of videos, what sort of inks are best, how to get an even spread of ink on stamps, how to spray page edges, types of paint to use or not to use, to seal or not to seal… honestly I could go on.

Yesterday, I decided to just go for it. I felt as ready as I ever will be so I prepared three test subject books.

1. Test one: to sand the edges, use the silver spray paint, allow to dry, and then see if the ink would stamp to that before sealing.
2. To sand the edges, spray the silver, allow to dry, then seal before trying the stamp, allowing to dry and then sealing.
3. Sand the edges, stamp the paper while clamped, spray the top and bottom then a light dusting of silver over the stamp. Allow it to dry , then seal.

It took a while to seal all the books with masking tape, especially over the spines. I wrapped and taped foil around the covers to protect them first, before I clamped and sanded the edges. I noticed on some videos that the sprayed edges when not sanded left deeper patches of colour.

The stamps aren’t as clear on the books that were sprayed before stamping so I’ve gone with the stamping process first.

The silver is gorgeous and sparkled really prettily in the light. The pictures don’t do justice to how sparkly they are. It’s very pretty. This wasn’t offered as the add on, but I thought it would be a lovely extra for those of you who ordered pretty edges.

The images below are the sprayed books but are still clamped with the foil wrap still on.

The two books together are the proof copies that were sprayed before the stamps. The stamps still look lovely but aren’t as vibrant as on the other books.

The stamp worked pretty well in the end. I had to get hubby to grind the edges off as the back plate was too big to fit on the spine once the were clamped. Thats because I went with the better quality print book which ended up being thinner for some reason, and thinner still when clamped! Still not sure how when the paper gsm was thicker! hey ho! I’m not going to over think it!

What do you think? I’m really happy with how they turned out!

These are so gorgeous!

The vellum pages for Dex & Lia have arrived and they look amazing

Inside the book! I just wanted to show you these while we wait for the final piece of the puzzle. The printer is working on the dust jackets and have a copy of the book to make sure the sizing is correct this time.

What do you think to the vellums? I love them so much.

A bit of a set back I’m afraid:(

Hi folks, I wanted to let you know what’s happening with the dust jackets . I

The dust jackets have arrived today and they are stunning but totally the wrong size.  They have been so traumatic to design and size so far, and I’m not done with them yet. I have attached some photos for you to see.
As you can tell even though the cover template was for this size book the jacket is way too big and means the back of the jacket art is off centre. The typography is also too big.

This means I will need to discuss a way forward with the printer. If they don’t agree some of the error was theirs it will mean me having to fund another print  run, which will leave me out of pocket on this campaign.
I will still make sure you get the foil dust jacket though.

I just wanted to let you know why you haven’t yet received your book.

I’m so disappointed I can’t tell you but I guess it’s all a learning curve and I have to accept this and move on or I will just cry.

Anyway, as soon s I know what’s happening o will let you know.

Take care

OMG! It’s so pretty!😍😍

Your books are on their way to me! I’ve posted a lookie at the hardback and interior on TikTok! I wasn’t happy with the first couple of proof copies I received so I changed printer. This one is so pretty and the interior images are much better quality. I’m really happy with it and hope you love it too!
Just click here to take a look 😍

I’m waiting on the dust jackets, too. I’ve worked hard with a specialist printer to get the typography embossed and foiled on the front cover and spine. That means you’ll still get the bling from the foil when it’s on your shelf!
I can’t tell you how excited I am to see it.

Don’t forget to follow the Angel of Awther campaign. It’ll be releasing mid to late March when I have some art to show you. ❤️❤️

What do you think to the book? Do you like it?
